First a lesson in Newspeak: Torture = “Tough Interrogation techniques.”

Go ahead and google “tough interrogation techniques.” What you’ll get is a flood of news items talking about torture in terms of a government euphemism. The new spin is that it’s not a Bush euphemism but an Obama euphemism. The CBC characteristically is leaning right and not even bothering to rewrite the AP copy. (I don’t know why CBC bothers - the right wing wants them dead no matter how much they kiss ass.)
The bottom line: a chicken shit progressive president is covering up a right-wing war crime to save his own political skin (see this for explanation).
Torture by any other name is still torture and is still a violation of international law. Put the bastards in the Hague, or shut the F* up about human rights violations from here on in, Obama. Anyone with a shred of intelligence knows it’s wrong to call waterboarding a “tough interrogation technique.” Christ, even McCain could figure that one out.
Obama’s selling out faster than even cynics like me could have predicted, and the press are giving him a free pass. Dear journalists: this kind of spineless jingoism is why no one trusts you anymore and no one will buy your papers. This is why newspaper are dying: exhibit #1.
